Art And Design
I have been making art since I was a child, portraits of news readers were some of my earliest works along with comic book characters I copied to the point of obsession. Fashion design took over my teenage years and when I married and had children, I designed unique hand-painted outfits both for them and a trendy kids wear shop. As a mature student, I studied Graphic Design and went on to design cloth doll patterns for various craft publications. Textile prints fill a large part of my folio as do botanical drawings. From pencils and pastels to oils & acrylics, I work in a range of media, adopting whichever I judge to be the ideal treatment for the current project. Please enjoy my art, I hope you'll be inspired to do more of your own unique work.
"The details are not the details.
They make the design"

I usually start work with pencil and paper and a fresh page in my visual journal. There a dozen of these diaries on my bookshelves and I regularly refer to them and am often stimulated by 'old' ideas I once scribbled down and bringing them into the 'now.' Coloured pencils are fun to play with as my suitcase sized pencil case attests to. We have a large garden and there's always something in bloom that captures my imagination. Images are then scanned into Adobe Photoshop where I can enhance them and turn them into a repeat design or save them as a single image. You'll find an extensive catalog of my work available on Shutterstock.
Gary, does all my technical work, from filming and editing videos to building the website and linking everything so it all makes sense. Putting it simply, you wouldn't even be reading this paragraph if not for him.
The Cloth Doll patterns on the site are able to downloaded digitally but if you prefer, I can mail you a printed version. Images you may purchase can be used for product labels or packaging your home made crafts, for greeting cards or digital fabric prints. They are not available for commercial use unless we can come to a mutually acceptable agreement.
Please send me photos of anything you make that has my work on it, I'd love to see them.
